Happy Shoe Year | My Shoe Years Resolutions!

Happy Shoe Year

With 2013 drawing to a close, I was wondering how many of us had made a Shoe Years Resolution?

"What is a Shoe Years Resolution?" I hear you ask. Well, it's when you decide to make a change to your shoe collection. Whether it be choosing a new colour of shoe, a completely new style or finally chucking away those shoes that have seen better days (I know you have some of those, we all do).

Today I've been making an effort to clear out my shoe closet so that I can buy a couple of new pairs over the coming weeks. I noticed that most of my footwear collection is made up of black boots. In fact, I should ask you to guess how many I have in total. I honestly don't think you'd be able to (yep, it's that bad). It was when I saw just how many I had in that one colour that I decided to make some Shoe Years Resolutions of my own ...

  1. Buy at least one pair of boots that aren't black or brown!
I remember seeing a nice pair of burgundy Sam Edelman boots a few days ago and really liked them. I think they would make a nice change from the usual black boots that I'm so clearly fond of. And being a fan of Sam Edelman I know that they would be fantastic quality that would last for years.

  2. Buy a different style!
Another thing I noticed was that most of my shoes and boots were all pretty much the same style. Boring! I am definitely going to be trying some different styles next year. Maybe a nice pair of peep toe sandals or maybe something a little more daring like crocs.

  3. Just once, buy something a little flamboyant!
See that lovely pair of sandals in the main picture? I would never buy those. Why? Because they're not really me. However, I really love them as they look a little flamboyant! I would love to own a pair to wear in the summer months. They're from an online store called Shoetique.

  4. And last but not least, buy in the right size!
This sounds so obvious, but sometimes I find that even a little size 3 feels too big on my feet! I don't notice it so much in the summer when the days are warmer, but in the winter I often find my feet sliding around inside my shoes and it can be really uncomfortable. I must try and remember that not all brands are exactly the same.

And that's them all. It would probably have been better for my purse if I'd just said 'I will not buy any new shoes next year' but that is never going to happen. I'm rubbish at saving my pennies.
