Got A Nasty Cough? Use Vicks VapoRub!

Vicks VapoRub
Vicks VapoRub is something that we've used for years in our house to soothe many an ailment. However, I recently learnt that this little pot of goodness could stop those awful night time coughs that so many of us get throughout the year.

Scientists have discovered that at bedtime, if you put a generous amount of Vicks VapoRub onto the bottom of both feet, and then cover with socks, your cough - even the persistent heavy ones - will stop in around 5 minutes! Once the cough has stopped, it should stay that way for around 8 hours, which means you get a restful nights sleep.

Now, I was very sceptical about this but since I've had a nasty cough pretty much throughout my entire pregnancy, Nathan persuaded me to give it a go and oh my goodness me, it really works! I'd say it takes 10-15 minutes to kick in but I've finally managed to sleep through without having to get up for fear of waking the entire household. Brilliant.

The other thing we use Vicks VapoRub for are headaches - if you rub a small amount onto your forehead when you feel a headache coming on it works in the same way that the expensive sticks and headache patches do. Nathan gets a lot of headaches and one tub of Vicks last for ages, whereas other headache remedies don't so this one is great for us.

Have any of you guys ever tried rubbing Vicks onto your feet before bed to ward off your nasty coughs? Or do you have any other suggestions for how to use it? As ever I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading.
